Is La Santa Muerte an angel herself? 



Yes.
Santa Muerte is the 7th archangel, the Angel of Death from the bible who we believe was created by God at the exact moment Adam and Eve were cursed with Mortality ( along with the rest of the world and humanity) and expelled from the garden of Eden.
